Conserve, Reuse, Recycle

Semrau's point in the story is revealed in the sentence "Quite simply, use what you have until it can no longer function." I believe the intent of his essay is that of which to inspire people to not give up and to do what they can do to the best of their abilities. He shows this by going to med school when he is 75, not giving up his childhood dreams, and getting full use of his life. By using his own life as an example, of how he spent his 75 years doing what he could in engineering, he decided he did not want to retire yet, and to reuse himself and go through med school. This gives us the perfect example and his writing strategy was effective in my opinion. It captures the reader and keeps you reading, which to me is always important in any story because if I'm not interested in a story, or its not interesting, I never get anything out of it.

  1. Blog Boy, Well done. I like the sentence you crafted to reveal the author's intent. A close reading of the text indicates what he means here. Kendra's graphic still bests your fatalistic and overly aggressive slogan, but you certainly get an A for effort. Well crafted.
